Keep Your Smile Healthy All Year with Preventive Dentistry in Las Vegas
Stop Problems Before They Even Start
The expression, “An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of care,” means a lot to us at All Bright Dental, and this is why Dr. Saeid Mohtashami, Dr. Tyler Klein, and our team recommend that every patient should come to see them at least twice a year. These simple check-ups go a long way in fixing small problems before they can develop into bigger ones in the future. All it takes is two visits each year to give you a smile that is healthy, functional, and beautiful. If you haven’t had your regular appointment yet this year, be sure to contact our office today so we can give you a smile that will last the test of time.
Check-Ups & Cleanings
A standard hygiene check-up usually consists of two main parts: a dental cleaning and an oral exam. They are two of the best tools in dentistry for preventing basic problems like tooth decay and gum disease and allow Dr. Mohtashami and Dr. Klein the chance to detect other possible complications early.
For your dental cleaning, one of our skilled hygienists will clean away built up plaque and tartar on your teeth using a highly-sophisticated brush and will focus on those areas most people miss while brushing and flossing. Afterward, one of the doctors will examine your mouth and gums and use their observations to come up with a long-term treatment plan tailored to your particular needs.
Nightguards for Bruxism
As many as 1 in 3 people suffer from a condition called bruxism, and this means that they unconsciously grind their teeth while they are asleep. This can severely wear down the teeth and eventually cause them to break and fracture. One way to treat this condition is with an oral appliance called a nightguard. It is a small mouthpiece a patient wears every night to bed, and it provides a protective barrier between their teeth so they can’t grind them. Each nightguard is custom made for every patient so that they are both effective and comfortable.
Oral Cancer Screenings
As part of your regular check-up, the doctors will always include an oral cancer screening. Early detection is the best approach to treatment as the survival rate is well over 80% when it is caught in the first year. Your doctor will check your mouth, throat, cheeks, and neck for any signs of the condition and will advise you on what to do if they find anything that causes them concern. If you regularly use tobacco or have a family history of oral cancer, be sure to come see us for screenings regularly.
At the end of your standard hygiene check-up, you will get a fluoride treatment where you’ll simply rinse a fluoride solution in your mouth for a few minutes. Fluoride has been used to prevent cavities for years because it helps replace the minerals in your teeth that have been lost due to tooth decay. This is why it is present in many public water sources and found in a variety of toothpastes. Fluoride treatments are becoming even more important as people are getting less of it in their diet due to an over reliance on bottled water.
There is almost an endless variety of different toothpastes and mouthwashes, and each one claims to be the “best” and the “only one you’ll ever need.” Of course, this is just marketing, but it does make it hard to know which ones are right for you. Luckily, at All Bright Dental, you can get many of these products right in our office, and the doctors can recommend the ones they know will work best for your particular teeth.
